The Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association and the Nantucket Community School held the Second Annual Nantucket Science Festival back in March in the Nantucket High School Cafeteria. The free, family event lasted four hours and was filled with family-friendly science-related activities made possible through a grant from the Nantucket Fund™.
A total of 39 volunteers and staff contributed 143 hours of their time to make this a success. Most of all, it attracted 375 enthusiastic children and parents to explore and appreciate science together as a family and community.
A robot built and operated by the Nantucket High School Tech Club was very popular with both children and parents alike. Visitors also had the opportunity to ride a stationary bike that when pedaled, provided enough power to light up an electric light.
The Nantucket Science Festival would not be possible without the support of Dr. David and Beverly Barlow and many other contributing local businesses. We are so pleased to support creativity and education for our Island families and children through the Nantucket Fund™.
